Logic for Computer Science – Written Examinations

Dates

Intermediate Examination: 04.06.2002, 11:00--13:00.
Final Examination: 20.07.2002, 10:00--12:00.
Supplementary Examination: 17.10.2002, 11:00--13:00, Bldg 45, Rooms 001/002.

Grading

Participants can choose freely whether they take part in the final exam, in the supplementary exam, or in both. The total grade is the weighted average of the results of all the exams in which they participate:

If one takes part only in the final exam:
Intermediate exam:     25%
Final exam: 75%

If one takes part only in the supplementary exam:
Intermediate exam:     25%
Supplementary exam: 75%

If one takes part in both the final and the supplementary exam:
Intermediate exam:     25%
Final exam: 37.5%
Supplementary exam: 37.5%

For passing, the weighted average must be better than 4.1. As an exception to the rules above, the following combinations of results are sufficient for passing (with a grade of at least 4.0), even if the weighted average is worse than 4.1:

For all examinations, participants must bring the following items with them: Student card; passport or identity card; pen, stylus or pencil.

All examinations are "open book": Participants are allowed to bring with them any written material. Loose sheets must be marked by the owner's name. Electronic devices such as mobile phones, computers, PDAs, calculators, are not permitted.

Requirements for admission

There are no formal requirements for the intermediate examination. Taking part in the intermediate examination is a prerequisite for taking part in the final or the supplementary examination. For the supplementary exam, students must register at least two days in advance by E-mail to uwe@mpi-inf.mpg.de, Subject: Logic-Exam.

Results

The results of the supplementary examination have been sent to every participant by e-mail.

If you want to have a look at your examination sheet (and check our corrections -- after all, we may have overlooked something), you have the opportunity to do this on Thursday, October 24, 15:00--15:30 (MPI, Room 023) and on Monday, October 28, 17:00--17:30 (MPI, Room 023).

Certificates ("Scheine")

Certificates can be obtained at Prof. Ganzinger's Secretariat, MPI, Room 602 (morning or afternoon).
